PHONE SYSTEM 5.8.20
We have been experiencing major issues with our queuing system on our phones where patients are sat thinking they are in a queue but the phones are not even ringing in reception. Pressing Option 3 or 5 appear to be the main problem. For now, please use options 1 for emergencies and option 2 for everything else.
The GP Partnership have complained to the CEO of the phone company and their top engineer has said they have found a solution to the problems our patients have been facing.
The new system reports on how many calls we answer per hour and currently it sits at around 100 - 200 calls an hour. We have 5 receptionists manning the phone calls and they answer and deal with calls as quickly as possible, however some calls can be complex and can take time. If you are sat on the phone for more than 20 minutes please try again as this is more likely due to extremely high volume of calls rather than a delay by our reception team.
To our patients, please accept our sincere apologies for this disruption when trying to contact the practice.
Please remember if your call is urgent please press option 1 for medical emergencies. As an alternative to calling the practice by phone, and if your call is not urgent, please use e-consult (see above) or email email@example.com and we will get back to you.
Once again we apologise for the disruption and we thank you for your patience.
CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19 – LATEST UPDATE 4.8.20 (see our 'NEWS' page)
ACT LIKE YOU’VE GOT IT, ANYONE CAN SPREAD IT
If you have a high temperature, or a new continuous cough or you have lost your sense of taste or smell, please self-isolate immediately and contact 111 online. Anyone who has symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) can ask for a free test to check if they have the virus.
Please do not call the surgery until you have spoken to the 111 service.
ON-LINE SERVICES NOTICE
We have recently moved to a new Clinical Computer System called EMIS. This affects our usual online digital services and necessitates a change for patients to either register with the new online service called 'Patient Access' or download the NHS App. Both are linked to our clinical system and your records. Please look at our Online Services page for more information. If you do not wish to use our online facilities, please continue to request your repeat prescribing in the same way you have done in the past and please continue to call the practice on the phone if you wish to speak to a clinician.
We are now part of a Primary Care Network (Harpenden Health PCN) and all practices need to be on the same clinical system, hence the move. A huge upheaval for the practice and staff particularly in light of the COVID Pandemic, however we are excited by this as we believe it will benefit our patients going forward e.g. more extended hours appointments available at each of the Harpenden practices for all patients, 111 and Herts urgent Care will be able to book directly into our system and overall the availability of more cohesive services for our local community.
We thank you for your patience and kindness as we undertake all these vital necessary changes.
